| LPSB EMPLOYEES SUPPORT LOCAL CAUSES Dunebrook Prevent Child Abuse LaPorte County and Prevent Child Abuse Porter County:
On March 20, 2009, LaPorte Savings Bank employees hosted a Jean Day supporting the efforts of Dunebrook-Prevent Child Abuse LaPorte County and Prevent Child Abuse Porter County organizations. Employees each donated $5.00 to take part in the Jean Day comfort with all of the proceeds donated to these worthwhile community organizations.
Dunebrook was developed in 1989 to increase community awareness of child abuse and neglect and to coordinate services for child abuse victims and their families. The organization provides services such as Body Safety presentations at local elementary schools as well as educational programs for parents like Prenatal Substance Abuse Prevention and Parents as Teachers training.
Prevent Child Abuse Porter County also coordinates and sponsors efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect through education and awareness. The organization provides programs such as The Little Bear that is designed to teach child abuse awareness to children in the Porter County School System as well as Project Safe Kids which is a locally developed, highly successful child identification program.
April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month with both organizations participating in the “Blue Ribbon Campaign” to increase awareness of child abuse and neglect. The blue color of the ribbon represents the color of a child’s bruise.
